AI might drive more folks to FIRE mindset

As someone who currently saves half my income, I could buy a bigger house or car but I don’t need those things. My colleagues and friends are constantly upgrading like a couple with no kids buying a five bedroom house and leasing new Mercedes. At first I thought they value those things more than financial freedom and that’s their prerogative. As we hear more about the white collar jobs that AI will take over - are more and more people going to need to reevaluate what they truly need and realize they could get by on much much less when the reality of high unemployment or wage depression really hit in the next few years?
