For sermon clips, does background music help or does it get in the way?

I make short video content for churches around the US, and the one thing I go back and forth on more than anything is background music. Some weeks a soft bed of music under a clip seems to hold people longer and gives the moment room to land. Other times it feels like I'm putting a soundtrack on something that should just stand on its own words. I'm curious where the pastors and church media folks here land. Do you like music under your sermon clips, do you find it distracting or even manipulative, or does it depend on the moment? And if you do use it, who on your team actually handles that part?

Is anyone else stretched thin trying to keep up a church social presence?

I do social media content for churches across the US, and I'll be honest, even doing this for a living, I feel the strain of keeping a church presence going week after week. For the pastors and volunteers doing it yourselves on top of ministry, I don't know how you manage. I keep hearing we should meet people where they scroll, and I believe it, but the reality for most churches I see is inconsistent at best. How are you all thinking about this without burning out? Genuinely want to hear how small churches are navigating it, because I'd love to give the teams I work with more realistic advice.

Are short sermon clips good for the church or a symptom of shorter attention spans?

It seems like every church and ministry is posting clips now, little highlights from Sunday cut for Reels and TikTok. I can see both sides. It gets the message in front of people who would never sit through a service, but it also risks reducing preaching to whatever line is most shareable. For those of you who see these regularly, do they help you, annoy you, or something in between? Especially curious what the pastors and church media folks here think.

Are sermon clips overrated for church social media?

I work with content from multiple churches, and I’ve been wondering about sermon clips lately.

A lot of churches use them as their main social media content, but I’m curious if people still find them effective or if they feel overused now.

Do sermon clips still work well for your church, or have you seen better results with other types of content?

Church comms, how are you guys keeping up with church social media?

Church communicators, is anyone else feeling overwhelmed by how much goes into managing church social media?

Sermon clips, captions, graphics, scheduling, engagement, and somehow trying to stay consistent every week can feel like a lot.

How are you keeping up with it all?

I work with content from multiple churches, and I’ve noticed a lot of teams are trying to figure out how to keep up with sermon clips, captions, and weekly posts.

In your experience, is it better for churches to hire someone for content or use software to make the process easier?

I would love to hear how other churches are approaching this, and opinions matter too. 😄 Let's go!
