ANTI-LABOR IS ANTI-WORKER

Use this, this guy sucks. Not interested in debating. If you like it, cool, if you don’t, please go somewhere else.

Remember why unions exist

Jaylen Brown, NBA star, explains why he stuck with his union benefits.

2:38 is when he highlights how he was perceived for sticking with his union by teams and how his union benefits him.

Hopefully this doesn't break forum rules, I just think it's a great Labor Win shared by a nationally known employee who shares some reality. A great example of what we all can accomplish when we stick together.

Mayor Aftab Pureval on TDS

In all of the turmoil we have been experiencing lately, as people but especially as public servants, I just watched the Cincinnati OH Mayor on The Daily Show and wanted to encourage folks to see it.

He specifically discusses his coalition building around driving direct results while considering long-term impacts. I was most excited by his leadership style, as well as his points that success does not happen in one click, it takes dedicated public servants.

The "administrative state" is "boring" but is not a lesser to any industry.

Anyway, I just hope everyone is doing ok and wanted to share how Mayor Pureval spoke about his city's employees.

Fighting RTO

Looking back at the most recent arguments against RTO (by SEIU), in particular the claim of a mass exodus of state workers, I want to present an alternative narrative because I believe the GO has the goal to cut staff. Self vacating is not the flex they presented it as.

I propose the argument should be that if good faith negotiations and folks' RAs continue to be denied without consistent application, there will be grievances filed with CRD, EEO, and potential lawsuits.

We will not quit, we will not self vacate, we will become more adament that our self worth and civil rights, as a public servant, a neighbor, and a HUMAN BEING, will be on the table at every stage of negotiations. We have forgone raises, we have adapted to astronomical changes and proved our ability to maintain if not exceed expectations. We continue to serve our communities and want to see all workers receive the respect and dignity that the 21st century workplace can offer when administered properly.

We have to be more stubborn than the oligarchs because we are not serfs to overlords, we are servants to the public.

Our purpose as community members has been to serve others, whether the public can see it, whether we are appreciated or not, we chose this career path to be a part of the changes we want to see. Public service is a worthwhile endeavor and as the name suggests is meant to maintain standards of living for folks across the spectrum; the ones that private sector is unfit, or worse, unwilling to address.
