Hi everyone,

I’m currently riding a 2017 BMC Teammachine SLR02 with a mechanical Shimano Dura-Ace group and Campagnolo Bora One 50 wheels (rim brakes). The bike still rides beautifully, but I’ve been thinking about upgrading to a more modern setup for a while now.

I found a 2022 Trek Émonda SLR 9 for €3,200. Here are the specs:

Frame: OCLV 800 Carbon (Top tier).

Groupset: SRAM Red eTap AXS 12v (1st Generation).

Wheels: Bontrager Aeolus RSL 37.

Integrated Cockpit: Aeolus RSL bar/stem.

My main doubts:

  1. The Ride: Has anyone made the switch from an older Teammachine to a modern Émonda? I love how the BMC feels, but I’m looking for something that excels in climbing and offers the confidence of disc brakes.

The bike looks mint in photos and seems very well maintained. I plan to use it for Gran Fondos and lots of climbing.

Would you pull the trigger on this deal or look for something newer (like an SL 7 with a more recent Ultegra/Force group)?

Thanks for the help!
