I’m in the process of finalizing booking for Mahindra XEV (leaning towards Pack 3), and wanted to get inputs from existing owners and folks who’ve spent time with the car.

I’ve been trying to understand the whole Snapdragon 8155 (Pack 3) vs Snapdragon 8295 (Pack 3 Above) debate from a practical ownership perspective, not just specs.

My current understanding (please correct me if I’m wrong):

I. Pack 3 (likely 8155-class chipset):

Should be more than sufficient for current use cases:

- Navigation (Google Maps, etc.)

- Media, calls, connected features

- Basic ADAS visualization

- General UI responsiveness across screens

II. Pack 3 Above (Snapdragon 8295):

Seems necessary to fully power the more advanced / compute-heavy features:

- AR-based HUD (real-time navigation overlays)

- VisionX / advanced UI layers (3D rendering, contextual graphics)

- Multi-screen sync (driver + center + passenger displays simultaneously)

- Self-parking / automated parking visualizations

- More advanced ADAS visualization layers

- AI/voice assistant improvements and future features

- Overall smoother handling of multiple concurrent processes

So to me, it feels like:

8155 = sufficient for current features (Pack 3)

8295 = required for unlocking + sustaining advanced features (Pack 3 Above)

My dilemma:

While I understand that 8155 should be perfectly fine today, I’m trying to think from a 5-7 year ownership perspective:

  1. As OTA updates roll out and UI/features get heavier:

- Will Pack 3 start feeling slow / dated?

  1. Do manufacturers typically optimize well for older chipsets, or do newer features end up favoring higher-end variants?

  2. Has anyone experienced lag, stutter, or slowdown in real-world usage on current 8155-based systems (in Mahindra or other cars)?

What I’m specifically looking for from owners:

  1. If you own / have tested Pack

?

- Any UI lag, stutter, or delays?

- How does it feel when multitasking (maps + music + UI interactions)?

  1. If you’ve experienced Pack 3 Above:

- Is the difference in smoothness actually noticeable or just spec-sheet level?

  1. From a long-term POV:

- Do you think 8295 is “future-proofing” or just “nice to have”?

I’m okay paying extra if the benefit is meaningful over time. But don’t want to overspend if 8155 will age just fine
