July 1st RTO memo EDD

Where is everyone going to fit in the NLAB building if we are already sharing cubicles?

RETURN TO OFFICE AND TELEWORK STATUS CERTIFICATION

This memorandum provides important information regarding return to office and the Telework Status Certification.

For return to office, your management team will determine the in-person schedule for teleworking employees that meets business and operational needs. On or before June 1, 2026, your supervisor will communicate how the four in-office days per week will be implemented in your specific office.

Telework and in-office schedules are subject to change based upon business and operational needs and space availability.

Telework Status Certification

All employees, regardless of telework status, must complete the Telework Status Certification and have it approved by their supervisor through the Talent Management System (TMS).

The Telework Status Certification will be automatically assigned to all employees. Employees should confirm their work schedule that will be effective July 1, 2026, with their supervisor prior to completing the certification. Instructions on how to access, complete, and submit the Telework Status Certification can be found here.

Employees must complete their Telework Status Certification by June 30, 2026. Employees without an approved Telework Status Certification on file will be required to report to their headquarters location five days per week.

Further information and resources, including FAQs, are available on the Telework Program SharePoint Site. If you have questions about your schedule or return to office requirements, please contact your supervisor.

EDD RTO MEMO

RETURN TO OFFICE IMPLEMENTATION

Date: May 15, 2026

File No.: 54:NF:al

Your contributions in helping us to provide public services make a meaningful difference every day for Californians. As part of this commitment to public service, we also recognize the importance of aligning our operations with statewide policies.

We are moving ahead with making our operations consistent with the Governor’s March 3, 2025, return to office executive order which will go into effect July 1, 2026.

The implementation of a default minimum of four in-person days per week is a statewide requirement for agencies and departments, consistent with Executive Order N-22-25 and guidance released by the California Department of Human Resources (CalHR).

In implementing the executive order, the Employment Development Department (EDD) will continue to operate a hybrid work model, which includes various combinations of remote work and in-person engagement to meet business and operational needs.

As the EDD implements its plan consistent with the intent and requirements of the executive order, management will provide further guidance to address role-specific details regarding your hybrid work schedule and in-office reporting requirements.

Thank you.

May be a silly question: Reasonable accommodation for acrophobia??

So, we moved to a new building and have been fortunate to only have to be in office 1 day a week, but that is going to change to 2 days (and potentially 4). Previous building was no biggie, only 5 floors and we were on the 3rd. NOW we are are going to be on the 16th floor. But holy crap it rattles me to my core being that high up. I'm curious if anyone has asked for a reasonable accommodation for acrophobia?? I know the worst they could offer is like nothing to accommodate, but maybe they could accommodate with remote work. 😔
