Hey everyone,
I’m currently a Staff Engineer at a Tier-1 MNC here in Bangalore. On paper, it’s great the pay is steady, the brand name is solid, and I have "Staff" in my title. But honestly? I’m exhausted by the endless layers of bureaucracy, the 4-week lead times for a simple infra change, and the feeling that I’m spending 80% of my time in alignment meetings instead of actually building.
I want to move back into the "high-paced" world where my expertise actually moves the needle, not just checks a compliance box. I’m looking for that Series A/B sweet spot where things are breaking because of scale, not because of bad code, and they need someone to come in and build the foundation.
For those of you who made the jump from Big Tech/MNCs to the high-growth startup scene in BLR: How did you find the right fit?
• Job Boards feel like a black hole: LinkedIn and Naukri are flooded with "Startup-like" companies that are basically MNCs in disguise.
• The "Wellfound" (AngelList) experience: Is it still the gold standard for India, or has it moved elsewhere?
• Filtering for Quality: How do you vet a startup’s engineering culture before joining? I don’t want to trade "MNC Boredom" for "Startup Chaos" without a vision.
• Networking in BLR: Are there specific meetups, Slack groups, or even specific cafes in HSR/Indiranagar where the real conversations happen?
I’m not looking for a referral link (yet) just some genuine advice on the strategy. How do you identify the "rockets" before they've already become boring corporates?
TL;DR: Staff Eng in BLR wants to leave the MNC golden handcuffs for a high-growth startup. How do I find the ones that actually value engineering excellence over just "hustle"?
