Why do strangers support my art more than my own friends?

Why do people who call themselves your friends seem so uninterested in what you do to the point they can’t even leave a simple like on your posts?

I don’t know if art just doesn’t interest people that much anymore, but it honestly hurts. I put so much effort, emotion and time into my pieces, and sometimes people don’t even react to them at all. Some even use my posts as an excuse to text me “hey” while completely ignoring the artwork itself.

It makes me feel like what I do is being minimized or treated like some little hobby. And when I try to explain why it bothers me, people don’t really get it.

What confuses me even more is that I see these same people constantly supporting celebrities, influencers and random creators online. But when it comes to me, it feels like my passion is just seen as a cute little thing instead of something serious and personal. One time a friend literally told me: “aww you draw? that’s so cute.”

Cute…? I genuinely didn’t even know what to say.

The weirdest part is that strangers online support my art way more than people I actually know in real life, and I don’t know how to feel about that.
