Clarithromycin clearance and Klonopin?
Hello, can any pharmacists or medical providers weigh in?
I am a 30 year old male, 175lbs, 6 feet tall, no PMH. I am on vacation in another country and was prescribed Clarithromycin 500mg BID x7 days. I finished the course last night. I see that clonazepam is contraindicated and have not taken my prescribed 0.5mg PRN clonazepam for panic disorder/PTSD in about two weeks. I usually take clonazepam 3-4x per month. I have been experiencing severe PTSD symptoms, and would benefit from the use of my PRN clonazepam.
Would it be safe to take 0.5mg of Clonazepam about 20 hours after the last dose of Clarithromycin? Should the CYP3A4 effects be sufficiently diminished? I see that there will be about 10-15% of the Clarithromycin remaining in my bloodstream, half-life wise.
