Need advice for my ADHD (VIC)
Hi, I’m 21F, in university and got diagnosed for ADHD Inattentive and Anxiety (GAD) around 6? months ago. I started off on Ritalin LA 10 and worked my way up to around 30 because it wasn’t doing much for me, and then I started feeling like I was spending the whole day on edge. I hated that feeling and eventually gave up on Ritalin and recently switched to Vyvanse in the morning and dex sulfate (as?) 5mg in the afternoon. The first time I took it before breakfast I felt the same—on edge—so now I take it after breakfast and I feel like it does nothing for me. Honestly I’ve only tried it a few times because I feel like whenever I take anything I’m overthinking the whole day about what it’s affecting, like oh my leg is shaking is that the meds, I’m unproductive is that the meds, it’s just so confusing.
I’ve also started taking prozac 10mg in the morning for 3-4? weeks now to help with my anxiety (my doctor thinks that the reason I struggle to get out of bed in the morning or complete anything on time might be the anxiety instead of the adhd) but I lowkey can’t even tell if that’s helping.
I’ve been super unmotivated this entire semester (handing in assignments late, sitting tests without even studying, skipping all my weekly quizzes, the only things that I complete are literally group projects) and I’m beginning to feel hopeless about this whole endeavour. Should I try my meds for longer and try take them everyday? I often wake up at 7 and spend 3-4h in bed before taking my vyvanse, and I’m often too late to take the dex (recommended around 12-2pm), so most days I just don’t take that either. Should I persist? Do meds take a few days to actually work? I’m scared to up my vyvanse in case I get the ‘on edge‘ feeling again. I already have anxiety so it’s honestly a horrible feeling.
You can probably tell I‘m very confused and doubting this whole thing, maybe it’s depression that I need to deal with but shouldn’t the prozac help with that? Also side note my psychiatrist said I might have autism as well and lowkey I don’t think I do so I’m just going to ignore that lmao. It’s probably because I struggle with hygiene habits so they thought it was a sensory issue, but I‘m just much more concerned about uni. I literally can’t focus without putting up a youtube vid on a screen and sometimes that doesn’t even work.
Sorry for the word vomit, but please let me know if anyone has any advice in literally any aspect… Thank you!
