Work cover lump sum or common law claim

I will preface by adding a trigger warning of suicidal thoughts.

.
I’ve 2 significant injuries
the second injury was a reinjury of my original injury but it has triggered a neurological disorder resulting in limited mobility, persistent pain and a complete nose dive of my mental health.

The injuries happened in my workplace in a short period of time.
Original injury was in December and the Second in April.

The second incident involved heavy machine being improperly used and I was sadly the poor sap that got hit by it. All on video and well documented it was the operators fault.

I made the work cover claim that’s all chugging along. I have a lawyer appointment this coming week.

I’m in intensive physio, psych and a medication regimen. I’m miserable, I feel like I’m a fox in a trap looking to chew off a leg.

I’m 33 and can’t dress or take care of myself, require help to use the bathroom, I require adult nappies. I was an artist as hobby and I can’t even draw without tremors and agony.
The joy in my life has been snuffed. The medications make me sick and groggy, when they wear off the pain is sitting there waiting to bite harder.

It’s dark I’m low. I need a simple answer

What happens if it gets too much and I self checkout? Will they compensate my family?
Or are they better off pursuing a common law claim? Will they try to pick up my prior mental health issues and say it was an existing ideation (I was medicated, well regulated and happy prior to the original accident)

I’m not going to do anything drastic right this moment, I worry (I’ve mentioned this to the psych) I will get to a point where it will feel like my only relief.

The neurological issue could be permanent, it could ease to manageable level in 6-12 months with the treatment plan. But it is here to stay to some degree
