*Help*Volvo v50 accessory belt snap and timing skipped
Hey guys looking for some advice from fellow v50 owners. I have an 07 2.4L non turbo v50. The accessory belt snapped while I was driving and I’m assuming got sucked into the cam and skipped timing.
The tow tried to crank on a boost thinking it was just the battery died since the alternator belt snapped.
I replaced the pulley and both ac and alternator belt. Tried to start it and no crank. Put my scanner in and got a cam sensor code. After talking to a local mechanic he mentioned that the timing skipping after the belt snaps is common.
Anyways I’m looking for some solutions. Should I just reset timing and see if it runs? I’ve changed a timing belt before but never reset timing on something that has skipped a tooth. Are there any tips I should be aware of?
I’m assuming I’ll probably have some bent valves. Would doing the valve job make more sense or should I just find a used head and just swap?
Thanks for the help!
