I don't really understand what people want with the Draco portrayal in the show.

Sorry TL;DR

I've read many post where they have said that they do not want Draco's bad characteristics to be taken away from him.

I don't believe that his bad moments will be taken away, but we are no longer going to just be following Harry's POV.

In the books and movie we've seen Draco Malfoy in Harry's eyes. To Harry, he's a big cowardly bully that has no redeeming qualities. We do not get him with friends, in his dorms, or at the manor. We barely even get his thoughts on Voldemort invading his home and privacy. Bringing all of his closest and mostly craziest followers to come in. For goodness sake Fenrir Greyback prowled his home. He has no issue on turning children without their consent. Look at Lupin.

JKR has said that the way Draco acts differently with his friends then with Harry and the other's.

With more emphasis on Draco we will have more than the bully and get more depth into Draco's character. He will most likely get more fans because of this. It wouldn't matter that we would no longer have Felton's charisma or that all if Draco's bad moments will be added. He probably will be the favorite despite everything. More depth plus a good actor, which Lox is, gets you a fan favorite. Look at Aegon ii in HOTD. Despite all the honestly disgusting things he's then in the show, many people feel his character is the most interesting and their favorite to watch. The broken king who takes the throne despite all odds.

People need to realize we won't just have the bully. We'll have interactions with his friends and housemates. A look in his life in the manor. His love fore his family. We'll see the pressure put on him as the heir of a rich family. People don't realize that despite being loved by his parents he does have pressure on his shoulder. If you believe that his parents aren't pushing him to be the best as their sole child and heir then I don't know what else to say.

We'll see all his thoughts. As well as the thought and spiral he'll have when Voldemort lives in his house. Seeing death after death in his safe space. Probably feeling that he had no escape. Because I assure you if he ran his parents will more than likely die for his betrayal.

If they really do gives us more on Draco then they can make him more than a one note villain like in the books.

The best villains, even minor ones, have a good backstory.

I always saw him as Ron's foil. Would be good for us to see more of that as well.
