Thoughts and issues with latest episodes 1157-1162, Elbaph Arc
I'm curious what everyone's thoughts on the new arc's episodes have been thus far? On on hand, it is kind of fun and nostalgic that they are having a light hearted adventure like back in the early days of the show but on the other hand, it doesn't feel contextually right coming from the intensity of where the show left off from Egghead, especially considering the series feels like it's pretty well at it's climax after the plot being built for nearly 30 years, it doesn't make sense to me for the mood to go back to the playful, light hearted vibe of the earlier arcs of the show. What's especially been rubbing me the wrong way is how some of the characters have been going backwards in development (Nami and Ussop are total cowards again, Sanji can't take anything seriously when a female is present and has become possibly more perverted than ever and worst of all: as far as I can remember; Luffy has never been dishonest with anyone, whether friend or foe, even if it means covering up for an ally or friend, so why the heck is he covering up the fact that he met Loki in the underworld area of Elbaph?!). I am a little bummed to admit it but for the very first time with this series which I have considered my all time favourite show for years now, I'm feeling disappointed with where the direction of the show is going and although i don't expect there to be an explanation for the flaws I brought up, I hope they realize that they've made some pretty notable mistakes and get things back on track much sooner than later.
Anothet question; Does anyone know if there's been a change in director, screenwriter or some other pivotal role of the show?? It just seems crazy to me how they have kept the show going for this long with no flaws as big as these and then all of a sudden, for the last 6 episodes, it's like they completely forgot about a few of the characters development over the years, completely threw out a core aspect of Luffys character for no sensible reason and have put the plot which seemed like it was coming to the series climax, on hold for the sake of... idk, stretching out the series and maximizing profit from the show?? Not a good feeling.
