Psst...Hey you! Want to see some Dust bunnies and a possessed doll?

Psst...Hey you! Want to see some Dust bunnies and a possessed doll?

Come in and sit down, have some tea or coffee; it's going to be a long day.

This is for an ongoing web series on RoyalRoad about an exhausted retail employee who just wants to get through her shift. (I hope this counts as a description)

[Urban Fantasy] [Cozy Horror] [Dark Humor] [Female Lead] [No Romance! Just Pure Chaos] [lots of cursing] [some body horror]

Welcome to Sharpe's Antique and Oddities, where the retail is boring, but the customers are anything but.

Tegan thought she was managing just fine with possessed dolls, feral dust bunnies, and customers who'd sell your soul for a good coupon.

That is, until a man-eating feral dog starts terrorizing the town and local girls turn up dead.

Certain she's next when a dark entity attaches itself right to her that no amount of hexed jewelry can shake.

The only one who can get rid of it is a reaper, and he’s not exactly in a position to help.

He’ll do it once he sobers up.

But for a price. (Fucking typical)

He sets her to find the souls of the dead girls he lost, or she has to live with what’s hunting her.

And let's not forget, she still needs to clock in for her shift.
Obey all Rules!

1. Wear protective gear when entering the basement.

2. Do not look anything in the eyes that has a face. You will be haunted)

3. Always keep an eye on Joseph! (Rule two does not apply to Joseph!)

4. Do not talk back or insult the customers. Especially the witches.

Enjoy the ride. Please keep your hands and feet inside at all times, and don't forget long socks. (The dust bunnies bite.)

Updated weekly with no hiatus, this will die with me!

No, but seriously i appreciate anyone willing to check it out.

Thank you all so much!

(Edited to add some words)

I just need to fan-girl with someone about obscure mythical beasts and weird folklore!!

Okay, please tell me there are other total lore/mythology nerds here who get absolutely obsessed with absolutely bizarre mythical creatures?

I am so tired of seeing the same three monsters in urban fantasy. (I do not mean any offense to them; I know enough about them and even talk about them in my own series I write.)

I want to talk about the absolute weirdest, most obscure legends out there.

Like, can we please talk about the Gallywampus? Or the Alabatwitch? Or Carbuncles; they are small little creatures with gems in their heads.

Please tell me I am not the only one doing 2 am deep dives into lore from some backwater town from the 1820s or something.

Drop your favorite obscure monsters below; I want no, need to hear ALL about them; this is literally my fix.

Just a simple question

Hey everyone. Does it ever get to anyone else that most other genres have a site that their genre is popular on. I don't think I have ever found a site that Urbanfantasy is popular on besides Wattpad and we see where that went, maybe I'm over thinking it a bit, but anyway. I would love to read more stories, let me know some of your favorites, book form or online.

Okay Guys, Give me your favorites.

I've noticed a few posts on here talking about how off-meta stories don't do well, and trust me, I get it.

My genre is so far gone from what's meta on Royal Road, but there are a few stories I feel deserve more love and a few I'd gladly fly a banner for (can't say what I want, but you get the idea).

Not sure if this is allowed, but I want to see what authors or stories you all love. I'd love to build up my reading list.

I can never have enough on my TBR pile. (I think we all know that)

Okay, my comment got buried so here is one that I am obsessed with right now,

Pyre of the Blind Gods [Slavic Fantasy, Morally Grey, Mind Games] | Royal Road

Hit harder than expected

Why is losing a follower such a hard hit emotionally? Is that weird? I have a low number so maybe it's worse in the begining? Does it still feel disappointing for people who have a large number of followers?

Types of writer

What type of writer is everyone? It's always interesting to see, I am the I will wait a few hours till I need to post because I work better under pressure and if I write it before I overthink and panic.

writing partners (or watchful eyes)

Does anyone else have a pet that must sit with them while they right? I know a few people who do and I am so jealous on days like this, my dog decided today must be the day she will sing the song of her people at absolutely everything when I divert my attention to my laptop and it's.... frustrating to say the least.

I just want my dog to snuggle with my while I torment my characters, is that to much to ask for?

Remmi, The snack Thieving kobold.

I'm invested in character art as much as i am writing.

Remmi From my series Scars and Decay will steal your snacks, blame the possessed doll and somehow convince you to apologize to him. (this works well on Lottie)

Does the strategy work?

Look at him and decide.

Edited- So i discovered Krita recently and redid a few pieces, i used to use Paint, the previous one i had on here was a pain piece, this is a krita piece.

Secret spy music

I swear i hear secret spy music in my head when I check out other Author pages, their favorites to see what stories they're into and especially their fictions status. I don't know why it feels so forbidden to me...

Imposter Syndrome hitting hard today

I was about to start by asking if anyone else deals with this but that would have been a dumb question, of course we all at some point deal with it. our brains just love to torture us the way we torture our characters.

I guess since i dropped down from posting every day to once a week i have to much free time and I'm left to spiral, I refresh the page at random hours and i do mean random hours and then when i am writing I have to nasally little voice (Which sounds like the worst teacher from my school) in the back of my head just hurling insults at me.

I keep reminding myself i am in a genre that's not popular, and my stats aren't horrible, but you'd never know it with the amount of abuse I put myself through. How do you all deal with this? how do you shut down that horrible little voice? i wish i could just box it up and ship it out.
