2 Years in External Audit – Should I Switch to SMSF Audit for Better Pay?
Hey everyone,
I’m currently working in external audit in a small boutique firm and have about 2 years of experience so far. I’m also halfway through my CPA.
At the moment I’m on a $65k package, but I recently received an offer for an SMSF Auditor role paying around $90k package. The pay jump is obviously very attractive because I’ve honestly been struggling a bit financially on my current salary.
I’m also getting pretty burnt out in external audit with the stress, deadlines, and workload. From what I’ve heard, SMSF audit can be more structured, less stressful, and have better work-life balance overall.
My main concern is the long-term career side of things. Would moving into SMSF audit limit my future opportunities compared to staying in external audit? Or is it still a solid long-term career path with good earning potential?
Has anyone here made a similar move from external audit into SMSF audit?
Did you regret it or was it worth it?
Would really appreciate any advice or experiences.
