DNP teaching in medical school

Are there any other DNPs (non-APNs) teaching in medical schools? The university that I am teaching at does not "acknowledge" my DNP degree and therefore will not allow me to be in a promotion track. If I taught in nursing I would be an "Assistant Professor" at minimum. However, in this medical school, my rank is "clinical associate" which is reserved for those with a master's degree. I am not an APN - my DNP is in population health. Just curious if others have encountered this barrier.
