Anyone who has taken anatomy & physiology at Laurier I need some help 😭
I’m trying to plan my courses and maybe take one in the summer and I’m honestly so confused about all the anatomy/physiology options at Laurier and which route most people take.
From what I understand:
HS202/HS204 = anatomy + physiology combined
HN210/KP221 + HN220/KP222 = separate anatomy and physiology courses
then there’s systems anatomy/physiology courses too??
They’re all 0.5 credits each so I’m confused what the “main” route is, especially for people interested in grad/professional school later (med, optometry, PT/OT, etc.).
Does one route look better than the others or does it not really matter that much in the long run? Also which one did you personally find easier/more manageable GPA-wise 😭
I’m thinking of maybe taking one in the summer, so if anyone has taken these courses, which one would you say is the easiest or most manageable? I also heard there are anatomy lab midterms/practicals and I’m kinda confused what that even means/how hard they are lol
I was thinking of taking the combined HS202/HS204 = anatomy + physiology combined so anatomy physiology 1 and 2 and take one for it tin the summer
Anyone taking BI226 OC with Dr. Robert Boulianne this spring/summer? I had a few questions 😭
I was under the impression that the course was fully online because I heard from people who took it in the winter/fall term with the same prof that even the tests were online. But now I’m seeing in the syllabus that all 3 tests are in person at Waterloo campus.
Is this a new change for this term? I’m kinda stressed because I specifically enrolled thinking it was fully online, and I may not be able to come in person for the tests.
Do you guys think they changed the tests to in person because averages were really high before or something? Also for anyone taking it right now, are you planning on keeping the course or dropping it?
Hey, I’m honestly really stressed and just looking for real advice from anyone who’s been in a similar situation.
I just finished a first-year science course and ended with around a 47.5%. Before the final exam I was actually passing (~57%), but my mark dropped a lot after the final.
This was also my second time taking the course, which is why I’m even more stressed about what to do next.
During exam season I was dealing with a lot mentally and physically, and I literally fainted in one of my last labs. By the time the final came around I was super overwhelmed and ended up leaving like 3 pages of long answer blank. I even wrote “not enough time” on the exam. On top of that, I also missed two homework sets worth about ~2.7% of my grade. I take responsibility for that I knew about them but with everything going on they completely slipped my mind.
What’s making this even harder is how close I am. I’m literally about 2% away from passing, and even on the exam itself I’m only a couple marks off from where I would have needed to be.
When I reviewed my exam, there was also a question where I had circled multiple options (B and D), but only one was recorded on Gradescope. The correct answer was actually B, which I had selected, but it wasn’t counted. I asked if anything could be done about that and was told no, which added to my frustration. I’ve talked to my department chair and was told that grading decisions aren’t based on personal circumstances, and that even if I requested a regrade there’s no guarantee it would change enough to pass.
The only thing that’s making me question it is that earlier in the term my TA actually missed about 5 marks on one of my labs, and when I brought it up my instructor reviewed it and gave those marks back. That kind of raised a concern for me — like if marks were missed there, I’m wondering if everything else was graded fully accurately or not. But I don’t know if that’s enough to justify asking for a full regrade.
I’m also thinking about a petition because of everything that was going on (fainting, health issues, being overwhelmed during exams), but I don’t have proper medical documentation right now. I did bring up attention/ADHD concerns to my doctor before, but I didn’t get a full assessment and was mainly just given general strategies. Getting a formal diagnosis is also really expensive, which I can’t afford at the moment.
So right now the only thing I really have is that I was registered with Accessible Learning, but I don’t have full documentation to support a petition yet.
So I just wanted to ask:
Is there ANY situation where something like an exam or midterm gets adjusted/dropped after the fact, or is that basically impossible?
Is it worth trying a regrade when I’m this close, or is that usually a dead end?
Can Accessible Learning do anything after the fact or is it too late now?
Would a petition even get approved without full medical documentation?
What would you do in this situation honestly?
I’m just trying to figure out the smartest move because this was my second attempt and I don’t want to make things worse.
Any advice or similar experiences would really help.
