Career Uncertainty

Hey everyone,

I’m 14 years into my tech career and I’ve spent about 12 of those years doing native and hybrid mobile development, mostly Flutter in recent years. Lately I’ve been transitioning into backend work — Java, Spring Boot, and microservices.

I’m feeling pretty stressed and honestly scared. The environment is changing quickly, and there’s constant news about layoffs across the industry. I’m worried because I’m not sure if my experience will be enough or if I’ll be seen as “dated” since most of my career was mobile-focused. Moving into backend has been challenging; I’m learning a lot, but it’s a steep curve and I’m not yet confident.

Has anyone else made a similar switch later in their career? How did you handle the stress and uncertainty?
