I was watching the video Pixar uploaded to their YouTube channel showing the animation progression for one of the scenes. They rarely ever do this, and instead of showing some gratitude and celebrating the fact that they’re sharing this rare and exclusive material, the entire comment section is filled with people asking "wHeRe iS cArS 4?". Since when has this fandom become so childish? Seriously!
And it’s not just there; I see it EVERYWHERE (TikTok, X, Instagram, etc.). What is wrong with everyone? Grow up! A few years ago, interacting with the community and being part of the fandom was actually fun. We used to discuss the movies and how the stories should continue. But now? It is just a bunch of people begging for Cars 4 out of pure whim, when it’s not even NECESSARY!!
I’m saying this as a fan in my 30s who saw the first movie in theaters back in 2006. That’s why I love this franchise so much and I don’t want them to ruin it with more projects like Cars on the Road or that Disney Jr. series Lightning Racers—or even Cars 2 itself, which is so hard to watch. Now, suddenly, all these Gen Z kids are acting like that is the best Cars movie. Do you have zero criteria? Can’t you compare the original with the sequel and tell which one is better? And all the discuss nowadays is about the diecasts. Showing zero respect for the movies in the first place. They just want a Cars 4 just to fill their stupid diecast collection even more. That's all they care about.
And don’t even get me started on the drama every time someone finds something "rare" about Cars on Discord. It’s full of these childish fights to see who gets the rarest item and arguing over who gets the credit. Or they fight over uploading copyrighted content—which is actually illegal to share on Discord, may I remind you.
Anyway... this fandom is in a terrible state now, which is why I walked away. I’d rather admire Cars from a distance than have to interact with people constantly begging for cArS 4. Does anyone else feel like this?
