My dad is 80 and has been diagnosed with Lumbar spondylosis with multilevel spinal canal stenosis, including severe central spinal canal stenosis at L2-3, L3-4, and L4-5. He has a sequestered disc fragment effacing the right lateral recess at the
mid-L4 vertebral level and severe right L4 neural foraminal stenosis due to facet arthropathy and a right foraminal and extraforaminal disc protrusion component at L4-5. He has an appointment with a surgeon in a few weeks to receive lumbar fusion and lumbar laminectomy, but he visited a chiropractor today who said he could fix him in six weeks. Can anyone speak to how likely this is to help (the chiropractic care) and if any of you have tried this route prior to surgery? I’m not looking to demonize anyone’s choices and I’m operating under the assumption that everyone involved in his situation is trying to help, but I don’t want him to be further injured by manipulations/adjustments and I don’t have enough knowledge of chiropractic care to know what’s even possible. He’s in a ton of pain, doesn’t necessarily want to have the surgery, but also doesn’t want to not have it and worsen his condition/spin his wheels trying stuff that is not an ultimate fix.
