Legal Advice

Hi! I was wondering if anyone knew of services similar to SHAC so I could get Housing & Tenancy/Legal advice.

For context, I recently signed a lease with 3 of my friends that started May 1st for a house in Guelph. Before we signed the lease, the landlord told us that they’d need to get contractors to up-do the place before we move in and it’d be ready by first week of May. We were fine with this and made accommodations to live somewhere else for a week. On May 10th, we checked in to see how the work was progressing to find out they just started working that day and the house won’t be ready until the end of the month. I’m currently paying double rent because I didn’t think I’d be staying at my old place for the entirety of May. There was no verbal or written agreement about how long it would take to complete the work, except for an additional agreement stating “Work will be done prior to occupancy in May 2026”. Does anyone have any advice, or know who could help with this situation.
