Me and my family are moving from PA, and found this absolutely beautiful property in champagne, IL, one so perfect that it really compels us to move there even thought we were looking at Naperville, aurora, shaumberg area due to proximity to Chicago and the south Asian community being so prominent in those areas.
The other concern is that it kinda seems a bit remote and removed from a lot, from what I saw it’s around 3hrs from Chicago and 2 hrs from Naperville and aurora areas, so is it in the middle of nowhere or is there some sort of compromise to be made for that
People have also been talking about an increase of violent crimes since they moved away, how bad has the crime gotten I’ve seen people arguing saying violent crimes have gone up since covid everywhere then others saying that before it used to only “be pockets of Champagne which were “troubled” areas but now it’s all of it everyday”
is there a large Muslim population nearby other than Bloomington mosque which seems to be a 50 minute drive and a more community/family oriented mosque than the mosque in Champagne itself.
How is the community in general, what are some things that bring the community together. What is the demographics of the area in terms of age, marital status, how long do residents tend to stay. What are dominant subcultures and ethnicities?
Is there a soccer scene, are there any bjj gyms. In the past 10 years how has development of the area changed or has it practically been unchanged since?
Any information is really appreciated, if you want to tell me something I didn’t touch on but think would be important for me to know please do let me know.
Thanks
