I posted a question a few days ago about when you were cleared to get back on the bike, and about using clip-in shoes. I had my 2 weeks PO appointment today and wanted to share the directives from my doctor. I am happy to report that I was cleared to begin riding my bike!!! Start with 10 mins at low resistance and gradually increase time as tolerated. No clipping/unclipping until 6 weeks PO, so I’ll have my husband replace the pedals with the original ones that have cages for regular shoes.

Are there any Peloton riders here? If so, I’m wondering how soon after the surgery were you cleared to begin riding your bike, even if with restrictions such as low resistance, etc? Once you were able to ride, was it challenging to get on/off the bike and to clip out of the bike at the end? I’m wondering if when I’m cleared to ride I should switch my pedals to the ones with cages allowing me to use regular shoes.

I had LTHR Direct Superior on 4/21. The first four days were pretty uneventful pain-wise. On Sunday evening (day 5 PO) pain hit me like a train and I ended up taking Vicodin for the first time since hospital discharge. By Monday morning the overall pain settled down and everything felt back to normal, except some lingering groin pain. I had home PT and I told him about it, so he had me adjust some of my exercises to help the groin pain. However, the pain in my groin not only remained, but got much worse and by the evening I was barely able to walk without a major limp. So today, day 6 PO, and groin is a bit painful and I’m scared to walk so I don’t aggravate it. I’m worried some sort of impingement happened and I don’t want it to become chronic. Unlike most of people here I didn’t have anterior approach. My surgery was Direct Superior with Mako robot so my incision is nowhere near my groin area. Anyone has experienced an onset of groin pain around 1 week PO and has it settled down? If yes, what did you do to help settling the groin pain down? BTW - I’m icing consistently throughout the entire day and keep leg elevated as directed by my doctor. Thank you!
