Hi. New here and a vent

Hello!

I had my hysterectomy done a little over a week ago. Yesterday, I started being treated for a kidney infection that I'm sure came from surgery. I have so many questions that will never be answered including why did it take 24+yrs to tell me I only have one tube. I've lost faith in the medical field. If you want to continue reading, here's my story.

I'm almost 39. I have had absolutely horrendous periods since they started. No one could tell me why. I have 4 living children I had via C-section. This means more ultrasounds than usual due to fear with scar tissue and having to have amniocentesis done for 2/4 of my children. In the last two years, everything got worse. More bleeding, more ultrasounds, severe anemia...The works. I've also had a tubal ligation, allegedly (the word use is intentional. Keep reading) almost 13 years ago. I have asked multiple times to just take it all. I'm done.

December of 2025 I finally found a doctor willing to refer me to a surgeon who specializes in hysterectomies with complications. I had my procedure done May 5th. The test results came back from the surgery - I have endometriosis and they could only remove one tube because my other one was missing.

Please, tell me why, after such a long history with seeing OB WHY AM I NOW FINDING OUT I ONLY HAD ONE TUBE AND ENDO?! I am furious. Did they even do the tubal ligation? On top of that, I am being treated for a kidney infection which evolved from a UTI which had to be from surgery as I have never had a UTI before. I had called my surgeon's office Tuesday because I had abnormal pain, they sent me for a urine culture and never called me back. I found out the results of my culture via my medical chart app. My pain management after surgery was 5 gabapentin at night (1 per night for 5 nights), nerve blockers and Tylenol/motrin around the clock. Granted, I didn't want anything more however I wasn't even given the option. When I went to the ER yesterday at 6am due to the pain and fear getting to me, the doctor there wanted to press on my stomach to check for a kidney infection. Ma'am, I just had a hysterectomy, disrespectfully, absolutely not! I have yet to hear from my surgeon's office. I am completely in awe at the lack of sharing information with me about my body and addressing my concerns. My surgeon is a female too. I'm exhausted, in pain and I appreciate you allowing me to vent. May none of your journeys be as difficult as mine
