I noticed a weird inconsistency between attitudes toward preparing for the tests in the States and in Europe. On this sub, everyone recommends practicing on 123atc.com and possibly other sites as well. However, when talking about the FEAST test, most people say that you cannot train for it: you either have the skills or you don’t. I’ve also heard that training might even make you perform worse on the real thing, because you might get used to a slightly different platform. Eurocontrol itself doesn’t recommend training for it (other than trying out each task type once or twice on their platform), but I feel like there’s a conflict of interest there, as they want to protect the predictive validity of the tests.
Do you have any insights into why this is the case? Is it actually due to differences in the tasks, or are Europeans just more old-fashioned and conservative in this regard? Any feedback or comment is appreciated, I’d love to hear as many perspectives as possible.
