LAPD Flight Patterns for Two Air Units
I was at work in the area when I heard an LAPD chopper flying low and making continous loop de loops. A couple of minutes later, another LAPD chopper joined it.
Considering the manner in which the 2nd one was following the 1st one, you'd be forgiven if you concluded that they were just messing around.
Does anyone know why they might have been flying like this and if its safe, irregular, or perhaps even prohibited? I often see one LAPD helicopter flying over this area, but never in this pattern and definitely never accompanied by another air unit so closely. Note how LAPD started using a generic hex aircraft symbol for many of its air units, which makes it look as if three LAPD aircraft are flying in the same area. They often tend to fly fast and low in busy airspace.
