Avia 825 Royal Retro Gold and Black Leather 20th Anniversary Sneaker 1979-1999

I found these shoes at my local thrift store in Colorado along with some other nice sneakers. I originally got them for my son but am curious what the history is. I can't find any of this particular style online at all. Al helped me saying it's a 20th Anniversary shoe as Avia was founded in 1979, and so it must be a 1999 release. Style number is S094058M-05. Al wasn't certain what the 50ty refers to. Here are some photos and any info is greatly appreciated! Thanks!

I am curious if this leather Roots made in Canada duffel bag (I think it’s a Banff style) was a swag bag for a director or was it just sold there? It has embossed logos on the side for Entertainment Weekly, VW, Zenith, and HP. I found it in Fort Collins Colorado. Thanks!
