When my wife gets on a roll she’ll talk to/at our kids and me for 15, 20, 30 minutes or longer without stopping. I’ve tried to explain that forcing someone to listen to one deliver a monologue (rambling) for such an extended stretch is not normal, and that she insists that it is indicates a mental health issue on her part. As you’ve likely surmised, she refuses to consider any point of view that does not reinforce her own.

I’d like to know, from a psychiatric perspective, how long is too long for one deliver a monologue such as I’ve described.
