Teaching to EdTech
I taught for 10 years. Back in 2022, I decided to get into coding to become a software engineer. I made a lot of progress over the summer, but not as much during the school year. After 2 years of this, I finally felt confident enough in my skills to apply for jobs. However, the market wasn’t as easy to enter as I thought it would be. After searching for almost a year, I gave up.
I decided to take a break and leave teaching in 2025. I provided educational consultation to homeschoolers, but mostly used that time to work on my mental health. I realized I was extremely burned out and struggling with the fact that I wasn’t going to transition into tech the way I originally planned. I even tried going after other certifications, but I always end up feeling like I’m wasting my time and lose motivation.
I’m currently staying with a relative to lessen the burden of bills while I figure out my next move. My original plan was to go back to teaching, but I’m dreading it. The idea of being back in the classroom feels overstimulating now.
At this point, I’m considering EdTech. I was researching online and saw people recommending learning Articulate 360. However, I’ll admit I still feel defeated. I don’t want to put a bunch of effort into learning another skill only for it to turn out to be another waste of time.
I badly want to get a job and feel normal again, just not in the classroom. Can someone point me in the right direction? I have a BA in Psychology and an MA in STEM Education.
