Lubin “Ess Bouquet” perfume bottle found full with original contents in a privy
Hi,
I found this bottle while excavating an old privy beneath my carriage house in Newburgh, New York. The building dates to around 1850. This is only one of over 100 intact bottles I recovered, but this one I find most interesting because it appears to still have its original contents and is sealed shut.
I’m looking for more information if anyone knows about this bottle, I didn’t even know what a privy was when I started, I was just trying to do some repairs to the floor structure but when I started digging for something solid to place my jack on I kept pulling up bottles. 😅 then did some googling and discovered privy digging is a thing. if anyone has any information I would be very happy to know. Thank you

The embossing is fairly faint but it reads ESS BOUQUET and LUBIN below that.
