I googled around and I can't find an answer.
I have a scene where a character gets drunk and behaves badly and then falls asleep and can't remember it in the morning.
I then want to continue in their point of view after they awake without a chapter break.
I know in 3rd person limited you can't write stuff the character doesn't know, but I'm unsure what's allowed when the character knows something earlier in the scene and then doesn't know that same piece of information by the end of the scene.
If I think of it as someone recounting a story then I feel I shouldn't be allowed to write what happened when they were blackout drunk as its information they wouldn't know. But if I think about it as if I'm just writing the characters thoughts and experiences in the moment then I feel I should be allowed to write it.
I know there's no absolute rules in writing but I'd still like to know what the conventions are.
