The best one I could think of is to name a time where you were asked to find out why something wasn't working correctly. It could be a small electronic appliance or a large industrial machine.

This scenario might count because it doesn't involve clear directions. You must figure it out yourself using intelligent guesses and trial and error.

For example, you were asked to figure out why a copying machine isn't working. Using various tools you dismantle the machine, examine the internal components, until you find the problem.

Does anyone feel like this is a bad response?
