I’ve been trying to use the reMarkable 2 as my digital bullet journal for the past 6 months… and honestly, it’s been a complete failure for me.
Bullet journaling isn’t just something I enjoy — it’s something I need. If I go more than 2–3 days without journaling, I start to feel mentally scattered and disoriented. It genuinely affects my clarity and mental health.
Before the reMarkable, I used physical notebooks. When I didn’t journal there, I’d fall back to writing in a Word doc on my laptop — which I actually also enjoy. Writing has always been a core system for me.
I bought the reMarkable 2 because:
- I was going through notebooks too quickly (4 filled already)
- I wanted everything in one place
- The ability to search notes sounded like a game changer
- Converting handwritten notes into text for Medium posts felt like a huge upgrade
On paper (no pun intended), it seemed perfect.
But in reality… I just couldn’t stick with it.
Weeks would go by without journaling. Then months.
And that’s the real issue — not the device itself, but the fact that I stopped using a system that’s essential for me. I’ve lost a lot of momentum in my thinking, self-reflection, and overall mental clarity because of this gap.
What’s frustrating is that I can’t fully explain why it didn’t work. Something about the experience just doesn’t click with how I process or engage with information.
It’s strange, because it should be better than paper in almost every way.
But for me, it just isn’t.
Curious if anyone else has had a similar experience.
As for me, I am going back to paper, real paper this time.
