Hey everyone.

I’m hoping to get some help with something, since I’m new to this and trying to figure things out—any help would be really appreciated.

I’ve got a board, and I’m trying to find the UART pins (GND, RX, TX). Here’s what I managed to find using a multimeter:

  1. Orange: 1.7051, 1.7646, 1.7716, 1.7839, 1.7892 V
  2. Green: 1.7966 V
  3. Teal/Turquoise: 3.29, 3.30 V
  4. Red: 3.3 V
  5. Dark blue: 0 (GND)
  6. Pink: 3.299, 3.298, 3.30 V

I've got a UART chip here that has both 5V and 3.3V pins. From what I'm seeing in my readings, I can't connect directly to the chip with 3.3V and I need to step it down to 1.8V, is that correct?

  1. If so, how can I do that?
  2. If I need a resistor, what kind? I have some 100 ohm 0.25W 5% resistors on hand.
  3. Also, I'd appreciate some help identifying which contacts are RX and TX. From what I can tell: pin 1 is TX, pin 2 is RX, and pins 3, 4, 6 are power.
