I’m looking at my first car options and I’m torn between two completely different vibes. My heart wants a classic/retro boxy 90s hatch like a Peugeot 106 Independence or a Saxo mainly because I love that sharp, rectangular, old-school street racer look. I’d love a real head-turner on the road, but everyone’s telling me I’ve pretty much got a death wish with the safety features
There’s either the 106 or my head is telling me to go for something like a 2018 Ford Fiesta ST-Line X. Obviously it’s 10x safer, has the tech, and still looks mean with the factory body kit/LEDs, but I feel it’s a bit of an npc first car and everyone gets a fiesta
Ideally I’d love a car under £5k, 1-1.2L to keep my insurance down gotta have a solid MOT history (not trying to spend my life under the bonnet). And tbh it needs to be a genuine head-turner and look sporty/aggressive.
Should I risk my life for the 90s aesthetic or is there a way to make a modern Fiesta look unique enough to stand out? Also if theres any "hidden gems" that are sharp and boxy but won't kill me in a 30mph crash, let me know.
