I am 6 months pregnant and just lost my job. I no longer live in NYS but worked there throughout 2025. NYS owes me nearly $6k for my refund.
My taxes were filed and accepted through turbo tax on February 10 2026, 83 days ago and have been in the 'processing' stage until about two weeks ago when they switched to 'requires further review.' I have not received anything in the mail requesting more information.
I have been on the phone with Kathy Hochul's office for about 2 hours this morning. I waited to speak with an agent and asked them for a tax advocate. They took some information and then I waited about 1.5 more hours on hold and was for some reason connected to the unemployment office who of course couldn't help me or transfer me anywhere. Their only advice was to hang up and call Kathy Hochul's office again.
Is there literally anything I can do? I have tried being patient but I don't understand how after 83 days there is absolutely no movement or information on why there is such a delay. I just wasted 2 hours of my life to get connected with someone who can't help me. Is there a congressperson I can call? An Ombudsman?
