UK based here and have owned my 2022 ID 4 for about 2 months now and it's honestly not only the best car I've ever owned by a long shot (have always bought cheaper 'A to B' sort of cars) but also the best car I have ever driven!

My job sees me driving a lot of different vehicles and it may be the fact that this js my first EV drive, but the car just feels insanely smooth and it feels very 'luxury' especially with the Pro Life model I have with the brown and grey interior.

Now i feel like I may be getting a bit over-excited here but my 2nd car, which is my daily commuter with the ID4 being the 'Family and weekend' car is a 2018 Vauxhall Corsa. Now there is nothing wrong with it, but when I commute in the Corsa after a nice weekend in the ID4 all I can think about is the next time I get to drive the ID4.

So a few questions here...

  1. I know it's an E-SUV, so is never going to be the most economical commuter, but is there anyone that has experience with using it as one? To give context i do a 60 mile round journey 3 times a week, so nothing crazy but it's mostly 60mph roads. Would I be silly going for the ID4 rather than opting for a hatchback? Which is likely going to do better m/KwH?

  2. As i am a 'typical bloke' I love to put my foot down. The ID4 is certainly way quicker than the Corsa, but have seen that there is a 4WD GTX model that is even quicker again! Can also get a similarly aged one for a very decent price at the moment. Is the GTX worth it?

  3. I hear/read a lot about people having OTA update issues, gripes with the infotainment and all the other quirks that this ID series seems to come with, but honestly my current ID4 (albeit I am only 2 months in) has given me no gripes! Other than the frankly bizarre window controls.

So in conclusion... am I crazy? Am I just getting a bit over excited and is there anyone else out there that has 2 ID4s or the GTX model to comment.

Appreciate any and all comments

UPDATE: After reading everyone's very helpful comments I am glad to see the love for the ID4! I think everything has been answered and will be booking a test drive on both the ID4 GTX and a Cupra Born too for comparison 😊
