Hello, been a Sikh all my life and never cut my Kesh. However the logic of something is dawning on me and makes me doubt if it's the right thing really and it throws me into a tough spot, because I'm always seeking truth. If the guru asked something of me I would do it, but the point is in there should be a decree of reason when it comes to a mandate he gives all of his Sikhs.

To me I always thought sikhi was meant to be pragmatic and healthy. However with the nature of unshorn Kesh, when you get split ends. You aren't allowed to cut them? This would be against the health of your beard or hair.

I was thinking perhaps maybe it's to avoid the urge of cutting hair and getting too lost in it. But then it would be something untrusting of us, over something to maintain our health and commitment to the guru of keeping our Kesh. Because the mandate could be, cut split ends but overall don't shave. We have the discipline and accountability in our community to do so and I think the guru could trust us to do so.

So I'm not sure, please let me know sat sangat 🙏
