Has anyone ever heard of sugars running in the high 500's and not be in DKA. I went to the hospital and my count was 560 but they said my labs looked fine. It's not the best hospital, that's why I'm asking. They gave me 10 units of regular insulin, got it down to around 300, told me I was good to go and sent me on my way.

I just got diagnosed with type 1.5. The doctor only gave me Lantus and I have to take 50 units a day. But, it burns so incredibly badly that I dread doing it. Anyone have any tips to help it not burn?
