Paid for a name correction through MyTrip, still denied boarding and forced to buy a new €500 ticket. Do I have a case?

Need some advice regarding a denied boarding situation.

I had a round-trip ticket booked through MyTrip with Saudia. My passport name is:

Wagner Dias da Silva Lins Junior

The ticket was issued without the “Junior” part of my surname. As soon as I noticed it, I contacted MyTrip and paid their name correction fee. They later confirmed by email that the name correction had been completed and sent to the airline.

On the day of departure from Madrid, my entire family was able to check in and board normally, but I was denied boarding. The check-in staff could not properly locate or validate my booking. At one point, when searching with my passport, they even pulled up my father’s booking instead of mine (we have almost identical names).

I had no choice but to buy a new ticket on the spot for around €500 in order to continue my trip.

Now MyTrip says the name correction was successfully completed, while Saudia has not clearly explained what happened at check-in. I have proof that I paid for the name correction and I also have MyTrip’s email confirming it was completed.

My question is:

If I paid for a name correction, received confirmation that it was completed, and was still denied boarding, do I have grounds to claim reimbursement for the new ticket or compensation? Has anyone dealt with a similar situation involving MyTrip or Saudia?
