Hey Team!
I'm a father of young kids and grew up gaming in the LAN era pre 2000s using BNC daisy chains with terminators. My kids are young but keen on gaming, as are many of their friends at school. I've just picked up 4x 7070 Optiplex SFF units. I5-9500, 16gb ram, 512mb SDD. I'm not sure if they are 200w or 260w PSU yet. I would like to set these up for basic gaming and have them running off an Ethernet switch direct to my router so the kids can have "LAN" parties at our house instead of playing remotely online, of course it will still be hosted online but all the kids will be in the same room gaming together.
Obviously I will need to add a GPU to each unit for half decent 1080p gaming. We are talking about 6-10yr old kids so they're not playing anything too demanding. Minecraft and Roblox are the only things they are playing at the moment, but would assume the older kids will transition into Fortnite or something similar in the coming years. So I'm looking for decent self powered GPUs that don't cost too much and run off the factory PSU. Budget is limited but scalable depending on longevity of gameplay.
Do I go for some GT1030 2Gb cards for now and upgrade later, or do I go for Intel Arc 310ish cards as a mid rage or just commit and get some Yeston 3050s? Certainly not in the market for 4060 or 5060 cards, nor chasing that performance.
Look forward to your recommendations.
Cheers.
