I’m trying to decide between the De Buyer Mineral B Pro and the Carbon Plus, and I’m a bit confused about the differences.
Originally I had three options, but I ruled out the standard Mineral B after finding out the handle has an epoxy coating, which isn’t recommended for extended oven use.
So now I’m between:
- Mineral B Pro (stainless steel handle)
- De Buyer Carbon Plus
From what I understand, the Carbon Plus doesn’t have the beeswax coating like the Mineral B line, which might make initial seasoning easier. But I’m assuming it still comes with some kind of protective coating to prevent rust during shipping, so I’m not sure how much of a decision maker that really is.
My main question is about the handle, since I’ve seen mixed info:
Does the Carbon Plus also have the same epoxy-coated handle as the standard Mineral B?
Some say it doesn’t, while others say the standard Mineral B and Carbon Plus are basically the same pan, just without the beeswax, and that both have the epoxy handle, which would be a dealbreaker for me.
Would really appreciate if someone with experience (or in the De Buyer family) could clear this up and share their recommendations or advice 🙏
