(RANT) SKK needs to face the weight of his charisma
*incoherent rant ahead, you’ve been warned
So I started reading the latter chapter of the current event, and at the very beginning, when talking to Kruger, who is risking his own position to help SKK escape the authority, SKK goes “you didn’t have to do this, sir (not word for word, I play on JP server with JP text). And this line ENRAGED me.
Like, what do you mean he didn’t have to do this? What did you expect him to do then? You didn't expect him, and Kalina also, to abandon you to save their own assess did you? You know that’s not happening, right? You know they wouldn’t, or rather cannot, just dump you and forget about you after everything they’ve gone through with you, even though they arguably should?
And then SKK has the audacity to turn around and tell the dolls they are free to leave Elmo, albeit he stops himself mid-sentence. Klukai was right when she immediately replied to that with “I would punch you if you actually said that.”
And then when they realized the air in the Elmo is now radioactive, SKK refuses to wear protective suit for NO REASON, telling Gloza to go to Mayling first, even though the dolls will obviously let Mayling know immediately and him refusing to go grab his suit right now does not make Mayling any safer.
SKK, listen, you have a superhuman level of charisma. People want you to be safe. People love you and trust you so much that they are willing to risk a lot of things for you. And here you are, going “wow you didn’t have to do this much for me~,” “feel free to abandon me and save yourself guys~,” "she is more important than me~," seemingly having ZERO idea how much people care about you. I know he is just trying to be humble, but this is not being humble behavior. This is being a clueless sociopath behavior.
Well to be fair, SKK is probably genuinely worried about the safety and well-being of his human friends and the dolls, on top of being cluelessly humble. But if so, you should have thought about them BEFORE you went all-berserk against Paradeus in the last event and in the last game. You took the dolls into your battle (I know the dolls all wanted to help him but still), asked for Kalina’s help, and escaped from the authority, knowing what kind of risk that would bring to them all. So for him to NOW trying to distance himself from them to protect them is a hollow gesture. On top of that, there is a fact that people desperately want to stay by SKK's side. Some of them have even developed frankly unhealthy level of obsession with him, like Klukai with her “I’m all that SKK needs” thing or Helen’s “household” fantasy. Trying to keep them at arm’s length to “protect” them is not actually protecting them, but rejecting them and robbing them of the chance to fulfill their deep desire to be with him.
I’m not saying he shouldn’t have done what he did in the last event, necessarily. Paradeus is indeed a despicable entity that needs to be destroyed at all cost. But if SKK is willing to sacrifice everything to destroy Paradeus like he said during the last event, he should realize that he wouldn’t be the only one sacrificing everything in that battle. People will want to help you regardless of if he asks them or feels sorry for them, and they will be hurt during the process. If SKK is willing to go all in, what he should do is not to insult the resolve of the people around him and instead to embrace and respect the people’s love toward him. You should have learned that 10 years ago, asshole.
I’m sorry, I know this is a unreasonable rant about one innocent line, but the line pissed me off so much I needed to vent. SKK needs to man up, face the immense responsibility that comes from his charisma, start showing gratitude instead of regret for the people around him, and do everything he can to pay back for all the help he’s got while at the same time letting people stay with him. If he is too much of a pussy to do so just like he was a decade ago when he fucked off instead of facing the daunting task of protecting his friends and paying them back, well then he should stop trying entirely and self-exile himself, this time for good.
