Need for config advice

Hey Guys,

I want to start a proxmox server to use ludus on it (tool to deploy vm environnements) and I want to know which config I need. The minimum requirement’s for ludus is a 64-bit CPU (with Passmark >6,000), minimum 32 GB RAM, and 200 GB SSD storage, running Debian 12/13 or Proxmox 8/9.

Which hardware config do you advice for that.

Thanks for helping!

Hi everyone,

I’m working on a small surveillance setup for a horse stable (equestrian facility) and I’d like some advice on the most cost-effective and reliable solution.

The goal is to install around 3–4 cameras, covering:
- the main entrance
- tack room / equipment area
- grooming area or corridor
- possibly a general overview of the stable aisle or arena entrance

Requirements:
- recording retention for at least 7 days
- preferably local storage (NVR or small local server) instead of a subscription cloud solution
- remote access from phone
- stable connection (Wi-Fi may not be ideal inside the building)
- reasonable budget setup (not professional enterprise level)

I’m currently considering a PoE camera + NVR setup, but I’d be interested in recommendations (brands, storage size suggestions, or alternative architectures like mini-servers / NAS).

Additionally, I have a second project idea related to foaling monitoring (mares about to give birth):

I’d like to experiment with integrating AI-based detection on a camera that could recognize when a horse repeatedly lies down or shows typical pre-foaling behaviour, and then send an alert to my phone.

Has anyone here:
- built something similar?
- used Frigate / Home Assistant / Synology Surveillance Station / Coral TPU / OpenCV?
- or trained a simple detection model for livestock behaviour monitoring?

Even pointers toward existing solutions used in barns or farms would help a lot.

Thanks in advance!
