I’ve been working on building a fanbase for my music, and I wanted to share what’s actually been helping (and what hasn’t). Hopefully this helps someone else too.

1. Consistency > Perfection
I used to overthink every release. Now I focus on dropping consistently—whether it’s full songs, snippets, or even rough ideas. People connect more when they see the process, not just the polished result.

2. Short-form content is everything right now
Posting clips on TikTok, Reels, and YouTube Shorts has done way more for discovery than just uploading to streaming platforms. Not every video hits, but one good one can bring in a wave of new listeners.

3. Give people a reason to care
There are millions of songs out there. What’s your story? Why should someone follow you specifically? I’ve been trying to show more personality and behind-the-scenes stuff instead of just “here’s my song.”

4. Engage like a human, not a brand
Replying to comments, DMing people back, and actually talking to listeners goes a long way. People stick around when they feel seen.

5. Build moments, not just releases
Instead of just dropping a song randomly, I try to build hype around it—teasers, visuals, countdowns, etc. Makes it feel like an event.

6. Collaborate whenever possible
Working with other artists (even small ones) helps you tap into each other’s audiences and grow together.

7. Don’t rely only on Spotify/Apple Music
Streaming platforms are important, but they don’t build loyalty by themselves. Socials are where fans actually connect with you.

8. Accept that growth is slow (at first)
This part sucks, but it’s real. Most people don’t blow up overnight. I’m trying to focus on steady progress instead of viral moments.

If anyone else is growing their music right now, what’s been working for you? Or what are you struggling with?

Would love to hear different strategies.
