Advice on alt esotropia

I finally was able to go to a neuro-ophthalmologist and we did a few brief vision tests. Last one being the (prism?) square lens on one eye to which I saw double (I do not have double vision). The doctor said she wouldn't be motivated to do surgery because my brain is already rejecting the correction. I said i'd like to pursue surgery as i've read double vision after was common and it would take time for brain to fuse images. I'm now waiting for a brain MRI appointment and doctor said she would recommend me to a pediatric neuro ophthalmologist if necessary instead. Was this process similar for anyone else? Is it worth still going through insurance or should I seek out of network? I have an HMO and there were not a lot of in neuro network providers in Orange County to begin with. This is taking a toll on my mental health and the lengthy process for getting each provider just to refer to different providers....

OC neuro ophthalmologist

Hi, I finally started to see some progress in my strabismus journey with appointments after dealing with a nightmare medical group & PCP that kept refusing assistance. I (26) have alternating esotropia and got referral approval for the only in-network neuro ophthalmologist in Orange County (medicaid). I'm a little nervous and don't know what to expect from Dr Agarwal. Has anyone been to her? I also read from users in this group who decided to go private instead (out of network) for the actual surgery and pay out of pocket. I'd also love to hear the route you chose or if you're local to OC. I hope the first consultation goes well but my ophthalmologist did recommend a brain MRI for optic nerve swelling. Thank you!
