looking for advice on job hunting

Hi everyone, I'm feeling really deflated at the moment and was hoping to get some advice.

I finished my Master of Social Work in January this year and have been job hunting ever since, but I still haven't been able to secure a role.

I'm really interested in working in family violence. While I don't have direct FV experience, my first placement was at a community legal centre and some of my clients were victim survivors of FV. My second placement was research-based. To build my knowledge, I've completed the MARAM Brief and Intermediate training, and I've also worked through the MARAM Foundation Knowledge Guide and Practice Guides.

In my most recent interview, I was told my interview was strong, but they chose someone with a bit more family violence experience. I'm starting to feel a bit stuck and I'm not sure what I should be doing differently. Has anyone been in a similar position? Are there any ways I can strengthen my application or gain relevant experience while I'm still looking? I'd really appreciate any advice. Thanks!

I’m a new graduate and have been having some weird experiences with my job applications lately.

Last Thursday, one recruiter called me while I was in the middle of a movie, so I missed the call. Later, I got an email from them asking if I was still interested in the role. I replied saying yes and tried calling back a few times, but haven’t heard anything since. Then yesterday, I got an email from another role I applied for asking if I’d be willing to relocate. I replied straight away, but today I received a rejection email.

I’m feeling quite confused by all this. My guess is that they might have found stronger candidates shortly after reaching out, but it still feels a bit odd. Is this kind of thing normal in the job application process?
