For ppl in Canada, what meds do you take ? And what’s the diagnostic process like?
This is mainly for my fellow Canadians,I have had issues with excessive fatigue , repetitive/exhausting lucid dreams since highschool , it especially got worst my second year of university ( around 3 years ago). I have had to drop my classes several times , and finally decided to take a gap year so that my fatigue does not affect my gpa anymore. I am dissociated everyday from tiredness and if I cave in and decide to nap I am not waking up until the next day.
I do have multiple mental diagnoses that the doctors kept using as an explanation for my fatigue , but even after meds and therapy, the terrible , terrible…and I mean TERRIBLE sleepiness has not gone away. I was finally blessed this year to see a family doctor who took my narcolepsy suspicions seriously. However , after reaching out and being approved to see a sleep specialist , I was told the waiting time is 1-2 YEARS 😊.
I lost my cool completely in the doctor’s office when I was told that, and started tearing up , begging her to pls help with the symptoms until I can see a specialist. She was very empathetic and put me on Modafinal. I am currently in my third week of taking 100mg of it , which I know is a low dose , but I am also on foquest 55mg ( a stimulant as well).
I want to know if anyone else had a similar situation , if so, what medication worked best ? I would rather know what worked for people instead of having to go through hell and back to get the right meds. I would also love to hear people’s diagnostic process journey that are in Canada, I am in Edmonton, Alberta.
