Please help!
This is my cockatiel Piko! I have had him for over a year now (April 2025) and I’m having some issue with taming him. He will fly to me if I have millet and will repeat tunes I whistle to him. He will let me get my face close but the second I want to try and get him to step up, he will fly away.
When I first got him, I tamed him in about 4 days, but then he suddenly stopped wanting to go on my finger, and wouldn’t go on my finger again willingly until about March 2026 time
He will go on my finger if the room is pitch black, which is how I get him into his cage at night.
I don’t know if there’s something I can do or if it’s just a personal preference of his that he doesn’t like to be picked up like that. He won’t stick around unless I have millet.
I have tamed 4 budgies before, two were my own and two separate ones were my friends budgies. So I don’t think it’s anything I’m specifically doing wrong in the taming aspect. Please help!
